Job Title: Director or Senior Director, Business Development – Microbial CDMO Services
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Director or Senior Director, Business Development – Microbial CDMO Services to partner on driving revenue growth and expanding market presence across North America. This remote opportunity focuses on building strategic relationships with biotech and pharmaceutical organizations while advancing service offerings in microbial, mRNA, and LNP CMC solutions. The role plays a key part in shaping commercial strategy, identifying new opportunities, and guiding clients through complex development and manufacturing engagements. Candidates based near Boston or San Francisco are preferred, though the role remains remote.
Compensation:
Director: $180,000 – $240,000 base salary plus annual bonus, car allowance, and performance RSUs
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, standard business hours
Key Responsibilities of the Director or Senior Director, Business Development – Microbial CDMO Services:

• Drive regional growth by developing new client partnerships and expanding existing relationships within biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors
• Lead full sales lifecycle activities including opportunity identification, proposal development, contract negotiation, and deal closure
• Collaborate with internal business units, technical experts, and leadership teams to align commercial strategy with service capabilities
• Track market trends, competitive positioning, and client needs to inform strategic direction and identify areas for expansion
• Represent the organization at industry events and conferences while maintaining accurate pipeline, forecasting, and activity tracking in CRM systems

Qualifications and Skills for the Director or Senior Director, Business Development – Microbial CDMO Services:

• Demonstrated background in life sciences with experience supporting microbial CMC CDMO services and a strong understanding of development and manufacturing processes
• Proven success in business development or sales roles with the ability to manage multiple complex opportunities simultaneously
• Established network within the microbial CDMO space and prior experience working with or within competitive organizations in this sector
• Strong communication, relationship management, and organizational abilities with confidence engaging senior level stakeholders
• A degree in a related scientific or business discipline is preferred, and advanced education such as MBA or PhD is valued
