Job Title: Pediatric CDI Specialist
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Pediatric CDI Specialist to join our client to support accurate, high quality inpatient documentation across pediatric populations. This role plays a critical part in improving clinical clarity, driving appropriate severity and risk capture, and strengthening data integrity for pediatric and neonatal encounters. The specialist will work closely with providers and internal partners to ensure documentation reflects the full clinical picture. This is a fully remote, contract opportunity focused on inpatient pediatric care.
Compensation:
$100 to $135 per hour
Work Schedule:
Estimated 20 to 32 hours per week
Key Responsibilities of the Pediatric CDI Specialist:

• Conduct concurrent reviews of inpatient pediatric and neonatal medical records to identify documentation gaps affecting severity of illness, risk of mortality, and DRG assignment
• Develop, issue, and follow through on compliant physician queries that support clinical accuracy and regulatory standards
• Ensure precise capture of diagnosis specificity, present on admission indicators, and appropriate distinction between complications and comorbidities
• Partner with coding, quality, compliance teams, and pediatric providers to align documentation with clinical reality and reporting requirements
• Support provider education initiatives focused on pediatric and neonatal documentation improvement best practices

Qualifications and Skills for the Pediatric CDI Specialist:

• Active clinical or coding credential such as RN, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or equivalent, including FMGs with U.S. inpatient documentation experience
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health information management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
• Two to three or more years of CDI experience with a strong emphasis on pediatric inpatient populations
• Three to five or more years of pediatric clinical experience, with acute care and PICU or NICU exposure strongly preferred
• Advanced knowledge of pediatric ICD 10 CM coding, APR DRGs and MS DRGs, CDI compliance guidelines, and Epic or CDI software platforms
